THE MALTESE JOURNAL OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Call for submission of Papers

The Maltese Journal of Occupational Therapy is the only official publication of the occupational therapy profession in Malta. It is a bi-annual publication of the Malta Association of Occupational Therapy and is of considerable importance for the strengthening and promotion of occupational therapy on a local level as it helps to show-case the best work that is taking place in the field at both academic and clinical field.

Types of submissions

Your contribution could take the form of an essay on a subject of particular importance to the discipline or of interest to your fellow colleagues. It could take the form of any of the following:

  • A synopsis of a graduate or an undergraduate dissertation.
  • A comprehensive literature-based essay on a particular issue of interest. This could even be a refashioning of a Master’s degree assignment   or project
  • A report of a professional visit undertaken in another country
  • A report outlining the setting up of new services
  • Book Reviews
  • Literature-based opinion pieces

Any other type of submission not covered here may also be considered for publication.

Submission format

Papers have to be of a minimum of 1,500 words to be considered for publication, although book reviews could be shorter.  Long accounts would obviously be very welcome, although it is being suggested that submissions should not exceed 3,500 words.  Each paper should be fully referenced – except in the case of book reviews - preferably in APA style, although Harvard style would also be acceptable.

Make the best of this Opportunity to Support your Profession

Take this opportunity to make your voice heard and gain recognition for all the effort which you have invested in education, research and innovative services to clients by documenting and publishing your endeavours. Do not be discouraged by this task.  Admittedly, writing a paper is a major effort but it is definitely within your abilities.  Those who are thinking of submitting a synopsis of their dissertation, especially those who have already presented their work at seminars, have most of their work already prepared; it is only a matter of reshaping to fit into the format being suggested here.  We advise you to plan your work mentally before the actual writing and to break it down into small, achievable steps.  You can do it!

We look forward to hearing from you.  Do not miss this opportunity and remember that publishing in a professional journal is an excellent way to improve your professional profile and CV.
